The now-dominant COVID-19 variant KP2, a FLiRT strain, is causing a range of symptoms, including runny nose, sore throat, and other common cold-like symptoms. FLiRT variants, which include KP2, JN17, and others, are subvariants of the Omicron strain and now account for more than 60% of COVID cases in the US.
